Moving a washer

So we will be moving in the next few weeks. We'll be in a rental for a few months and it does not have a washer or dryer. I spoke to a salesperson at Home Depot who suggested that I should just rent a washer and then order my new washer when I'm in our new house because it wasn't a good idea to move front loaders too much. Is this something I should worry about? I'm planning on getting the Electrolux 517 washer, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

As long as you have the transportation screws/bolts to secure the wash tub I see no problems.

Depends on how far is the move and how much care is taken. I've moved frontloaders and toploaders distances ranging from a few miles across town to 30 to 60 miles between towns with no shipping bolts involved, and no trouble occurred.

Toploaders typically don't have shipping bolts. Some have a plastic stabilizer or piece of sturdy cardboard that fits into the drum from the top but rarely does anyone keep those for a later move.

An option if the original shipping anchor materials have been lost is to place pool noodles around the tub to stabilize it. Remove the top panel for access on frontloaders. Access for toploaders depends on how the machine is designed. Be careful in both cases to avoid placing stress on internal wiring and hoses.
