Well, it's dated in that it's the style of a particular era. Some people love that about a house, and some don't. But it can certainly be freshened up. I'd start by painting all the rust accents to a neutral taupe taken from the brick -- you could go further and replace that siding inset with, say, taupe stucco too. Beyond that, a painte front door, new porch light and house numbers, and a bunch of landscaping will transform the place,

(yes, a tree would be nice. I'm bad with my fake landscaping, so I opted out with a trellis, heh.)

I think the weird thing to the design is the lone window on the large right side of the house....I would remove the bumpout cladding, change the window to three long windos and stucco the bumpout and paint it one shade lighter or darker than the stone surface. The window is to the right of the front door, but something with more glazing surface so this becomes the focal point of the front of the house.....repeat with three windows what you have with the two windows on the left of the house....this might mean reworking interior walls but maybe not.

Thank you all! I love that idea of changing the walkup and adding landscaping. I do love the original styling, the color scheme could use a refresh. Love the idea of adding 3 windows!
