Good question - I hadn't even noticed there was a "before photo" option added until seeing your post. I would be interested in how/if others make use of this in their project portfolios. My first thought is that we'd try to keep any before photos relegated to ideabooks and discussions, where their usefulness is apparent when illustrating a point or describing a project. My fear is that adding before photos to our portfolio of projects might begin to unnecessarily muddle a nice portfolio of finish pics. Interested what others think on this added feature...

Hi there, There were a lot of requests to upload before photos to portfolios. If you do upload them, be sure to categorize them properly during the upload so they are not confused with finished photos. How you display them on your profile is up to you. Some people include a couple before photos within their projects so the full transformation of the space is apparent.

I agree with Pine Street that it is lovely to browse polished portfolios of finished work, but I also think it's so much fun to see before & after shots of transformed spaces! I have to say, the new inclusion of drawings and before shots works well for our company, since we do online landscape design and don't always get to see the finished results after the homeowner executes the design...and sometimes the photos sent to us are cell-phone quality, not really appropriate for Houzz. It's nice to be able to share our designs, at least.
