installation question

My yard slopes to the street. Will the angled post be a problem? Roughly, there is about a foot in height from the street to about 3' up from the street. Will I need to dig it out to install the post on level ground?

It will work based on the dimensions you provided. It is easier when the yard slopes down to the street (yard higher than street) then when the yard slopes away from the street (street higher than yard). I've attached a .jpg of the first page of the installation instructions where I've drawn in the concrete that it is set in. With the front of the mailbox 6" from the curb edge the post penetrates the ground 32" from the curb (see diagram). To get the correct 41" height (USPS standards) you might have 8-12" more of the post set into the ground. You can visualize by printing the diagram and drawing in the slope of your hill. Hope that helps.
