Hi there...

I often use two sinks in a kitchen (a main and a prep) and have never really had someone be disgruntled with the duality of having more than one area to prep and do tasks at regardless of the proximity. In this particular kitchen I did use the same size sink to balance the range that is behind it, so there was an aesthetic as well as a functional purpose to my use of this particular sink (which sadly is discontinued). Often times if there is not enough room for two sinks, a pot filler is handy to free up the sink area.
