The grocery store here usually sells annuals in the spring, and some roses. Yesterday I was surprised to see a huge display of peonies in 3 gallon pots. I was even more surprised to see that about half of them were Itoh peonies, Julia Rose, Cora Louise and a yellow one (not Bartzella, but I can't remember the name). I was shocked to see them selling for $24.99 and herbaceous peonies (I.e Festiva Maxima) for $16.99. Julia Rose was the only one blooming (others were budded) and they looked correctly labeled. So if there are any peony lovers in Albuquerque, you might want to check it out. I couldn't resist even though I said I wasn't going to buy any more plants, since I had just bought a Duchesse de Nemours herbaceous peony at a local nursery on sale for $28.50.
