When it came time to remodel the entryway and powder room of our home, we decided to work with the contractor directly. Previously, with the kitchen, we had gone through a kitchen designer before starting the build. The designer was great, but it felt like we were constantly going 10 rounds - fighting over what we really wanted. Thankfully during the design process, she introduced us to a contractor that we loved working with (Dago Farinas at The CND Company, https://www.houzz.com/pro/dagofarinas-cnd/the-cnd-company). When it came time to start this smaller project, we called Dago directly. He came, took a look, and gave us several options.

Our entryway had lovely wood floors, but the wood was thin 3/4 inch and, up close, revealed years deep scratches from dog claws and general wear. We wanted tile. Next to the stairs there was a large doorway into the family room. It was to wide and left little privacy. We wanted a pocket door there. Then just off the entryway, there was the small powder room. A tiny area that consisted of a huge vanity, a commode and walls. When standing in the powder room, the vanity was so large, door barely had room to open/close. We needed to crowbar space into the area without moving the walls.

Add to all that the fact we are not people who want to paint every surface white. We love natural wood, stained to the perfect color and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures that add character. So remove all the single-panel white doors, over-large vanity and replace with six-panel doors and pocket doors and a smaller sink/vanity...
