choosing the backsplash was the hardest part of our renovation. what we finally decided was that it shouldn't clash or blend with the countertop, only compliment it. i don't care for clashy kitchens :) and i wanted it to be peaceful but as beautiful as the rest of the kitchen..so we chose Jerusalem tile in large pieces (12x12) i am not a fan of subway tile, although it fits the age of my house. i didn't want to be counting :) every day..

I looked at the tile on the website...do you have a sample that you can lean up there and take a picture of? Although it is very nice I think it might be too much of the same...I was thinking it's next door neighbor on the website, Fantasia, might be a better choice...still has the right colors but a bit lighter feeling...btw, your kitchen is awesome!!!!!

Thanks Susan. I will post 3 photos I took of the backsplash sample at different areas due to different lighting. Although the one photo makes the paint appear to have a green cast, in person it is a true latte color. While I like the Fantasia, it has more gray/blue than what I prefer. Thanks for the suggestion of posting the photo and the compliment on my kitchen. I appreciateit.

i'm sorry i wasn't able to help you. i didn't realize you had subways picked out already. we did set up the various Jerusalem tiles and some other varieties to see what looked good at different times of the day and how it complimented the countertop and cabinets. it's a good way to know if you like the color changes over the course of several days.

mousemaker - I have not finalized a tile selection. The sample is just one that I thought might work, but am concerned will be too busy. I would love to see samples of various Jerusalem tiles and some other options if you have them available. Sorry if my earlier posting caused any confusion.

no, it's a quartz composite. i love it..there really is more contrast than the photo shows. i did post some pictures in my profile if you want to see..and my light!! i'm sooo happy with my light!!!!

do you have a beverage cooler installed? i'm so jealous! our kitchen is so small we just went with necessities..

I just checked out your profile and I could see the contrast between your counter and the backsplash much better. Your light is awesome. I was able to install a beverage cooler under the breakfast bar. That part of the kitchen is directly behind our garage and at that section of the garage there was a 6 foot bump out that we didn't really need so my contractor was able to build in 2 30" pantry's with an 8' breakfast bar and the upper and lower cabinets you see without taking up any additional floor space. It was an unexpected huge perk of this remodel. We have 2 adult children that live at home as well as my 92 year old mother in law who also often has caregivers so I needed several work spaces and creating this extra area with the beverage cooler, extra microwave and breville oven is very convenient. I will post 2 before photos and you will see what I mean.

whooo!!! what a difference!! it's wonderful. i can understand you have a little stress in your life...i'm in a rheumatology therapy program right now and it's been great..but one of the things they gave me was a CD called 10 minute stress manager. and guess what? it's 20 minutes long!!! :)
anyhoo. you obviously needed the space to work more effficiently and the bonus of a beverage cooler and microwave will help, hopefully..
i understand about elderly parents too..i only have one left...

oh :) and i'm glad you looked at my pictures. makes me happy :)
