Name That Rose!

Old moss rose?

I have a rose growing on the side of my house. I purchased the home last year, so not sure how long it has been here (the house was built in '52). It has mostly upright growth, many canes coming from the ground rather than lateral/branching growth. It has not yet bloomed, but last year it gave pink flowers that seemed to ball rather easily. It has some wicked thorns! I haven't cut it back much, except what I was needed to keep it from attacking me when mowing

Anyone have a guess as to the variety?

Its a Moss alright, but without photos of the blooms there is no way to guess its ID. Most of the Moss clan are various shades of pink, so that doesn't really narrow it down. Please show us some photos when it flowers, thanks.

I don't recognize it as any specific variety. Most of the old mosses are shades of pink and very double, with few - if any - distinguishing characteristics. You could do what most people do and simply refer to it as "Common Moss"!
