Need help with a tree.

Hi, I've been out cleaning up in my yard and noticed runners, suckers or what ever they are called coming up from one of my ornamental trees. Sorry, can't remember the name of the tree. I can't seem to find the start of the runner/sucker, I'm wondering if I spray the runners/suckers will it kill the tree overtime?

    Its the nature of the beast. Just keep mowing them down. If they come up in your flower beds that kinda sucks.
