You are right, those click flooring samples don't go with the knotty pine. Try dark chocolate brown that matches the color of the pine knots.

Carpet would be much better with the knotty pine. A low-midrange carpet may fit your budget.

Slate. More wood is not what you want here. There are several "slate look" vinyl floors (both click together or sheet material) that will work very well with these walls. I notice that you have a sheet material on there that has a stone look. You can repeat this but with more fashionable material. Cheap? No. Not cheap.

Carpet = cheap and cheerful. Most bang for your buck.

Either what Cancork said, or just get inexpensive large rugs that fit the room with only about 12" border. Anyone buying all that knotty pine is going to be "redoing" everything anyway, so no sense in putting a lot of money here. I would just clean, clean, clean and remove everything, including the vertical blinds. That will allow more people to be able to see what "they" can do with the house. Good luck.

Repair anything that's broken and clean, clean, clean. It will sell if priced properly.

Is that your floor coming up on the edges? What is under it?

You better check that existing flooring if you decide to rip it up. At that age, you probably have asbestos, so it requires special handling to avoid airborne particles. Rugs is easier and no issues.

Agree that pebbles or slate flooring would look better- definitely no more wood! Remove the vertical blinds and change the light fixture to something more rustic.

@mrykbee -- yes it is coming up at edges. It never had any border installed to keep it down i.e. qtr round. I think it is vinyl tile squared underneath (red, black and white YIKES!)

If it's old linoleum it might look better than vinyl tile, put a a big rug or bonded carpet piece over top.

It's likely anyone who purchases the home will remove the ceiling tile, paneling and floor. Don't spend any money, just make sure it's clean, clean, bright and no odors.

I agree. Make it a blank slate for someone else's ideas. Clean, and definitely no smells. I guess you could put in the quarter rounds because as it is it's a bit alarming to see the floor coming up-- it makes you wonder what else wasn't done right on this house in addition to issues being cosmetic/outdated (which isn't a crime!). Quarter rounds and price appropriately. The floor is in decent shape otherwise so just erase suspicion of continual shoddy workmanship in the house history. Make it look cared for, not new. Someone will have nostalgia and an urge for sweat equity for cosmetics.

Improbably alone here but I dig the stone floor. Paint the walls. Cheap to paint. Throw a rug down. Put some rented staged furniture. Call it a day. Room needs lite

Do NOT paint the knotty pine. Someone may love that and there is no easy way to restore it once painted.

Realize that original string is old post however have same problem. Here’s a 12x24 tile that looks good to me. Plz let me know your thoughts. It’s a small cabin of about 700 sq ft. I considered slate look tiles but they have lots of grey and thinking too dark. Thanks for your comments

What can I say lol -- life gets busy. An update though - - the new owners painted the pine and changed out the floor. Tore down walls and renovated the entire house. Sold for 4 times the price we sold to them for. Here's an updated photo of the area I had posted above with the pine walls. Sad to see the pine walls go :(

I make it a rule to never return to a former house. This is an “update” in a lot of people’s mind but I think it looks like a cold office.

Can’t account for taste….(I loved the wood walls.)
