I agree with Diane. A much more casual sofa and a colorful rug. I'd do two chairs rather than a love seat. Beautiful, relaxing space! Find a rug you love and then tie in art from that.

We will need seating for at least six. My husband rushed me into picking furniture out bc our baby is due July 1. But I'm with you and just want to get it right and sit on bean bag chairs until we find the right fit. The coffee table has a roll out bench which we thought was good for board games but I really don't like the dark now that it is in the place. I just felt right away everything was not right unfortunately. He is not happy but he will be when I get this figured out with all your help! I don't like the bed my husband liked either.

I like you tv stand. Do you mind sharing where you got it or who made it?

The coffee table will be better when there's a light rug under it -- you might want to pick that next to help give you a better sense for direction when you go looking for your couch, etc.

Please return that formal, dark living room furniture while you can, if you can. You should continue with the light theme of the TV credenza piece since it looks to be your biggest piece. Avoid loveseats at all costs. Only one person ever wants to sit on them unless a pair of lovers wants to be that close. 3-seat sofa and two chairs will be perfect. Instead of a coffee table, use an ottoman or a pair of small ottomans so you gain extra seating if needed. You need to think lake or beach vacation when decorating this room. Otherwise it won't be suited to its setting. Search the box above under Photos for lake view living room or beach view living room to start some idea books for yourself, but do return the furniture, especially the loveseat.

Glad you were able to send the furniture back. I think a couple of slipcovered sofas would be your best bet. Much more casual and easy to throw in the wash. I like the rattan barrel chairs groveraxle showed as well. I would consider a wool or indoor/outdoor area rug so it's easy to clean.

Wow, well you have a lot of elements going on there .... I see brick, I see ship lap, I see back splash glass, I see bling pendant lights, I see wood floors. It's kind of a lot. At this point, given what I can see ... I would definitely get an area rug. That couch is too small, I would get a larger couch and put it on the wall facing the TV. I would not decorate with furniture that matches the dark flooring, so find something else (example a metal glass top coffee table).
