Is this table too big for the space??

Ignore the green paint :) we are repainting soon. Worried that this table is too big for the kitchen? What do you all think? I definitely have more than the required 38 inches all around but it seems huge to me. Table is returnable minus the shipping fee. Tia!!!

From the photo it doesn't appear to be. The most important thing to look in to is if one can comfortably push their chair back where the longer portion of the table is at the length (against) of the wall. Most importantly to get from their seat comfortably and not have the wall a problem due to distance from the chair and pushing out given the wall. I do love the table with the floor.

Hope that makes sense...I was just coming home from the store and hit a small baby squirrel and it wasn't pretty and I'm a bit .... sad and well.... apologize if I'm scattered.

That's a beautiful table and looks just right. And especially if one side will be a bench it looks like chairs will have room with no problem. Show us the reveal after paint and chairs are in. :)

Yes, Porter, I haven't done it very often, but hitting a squirrel gets me, too.

Thank you both on the squirrel issue I know it sound mundane, but it's not to me. I was completely beside myself this little baby. I was ready to go back on to my street coming from the grocery and if it was suffering I thought I had to........ well, you know. I wasn't wanting to. It had died.

Appreciate it and sounds silly, but although I don't live in California where I grew up I'm So. California coastal in my core and well... a tiny bit more loving of all the beautiful animals that live in my area now and there are many.

    woof.

Kate, appears it will work... when you can place it all together.....post a photo please!

Do you plan to put the bench on the wall side or the other? That may make a big difference in the space close to the wall...

How long is the table? It looks like you need 6 chairs?

Thanks so much Indomom. Will definitely show the reveal. Porter, thanks again, the bench will be on the non-wall side. Shirlpp the table is 84 inches long. 4 chairs and then the bench (which seats 2-3) on one side.

Looks fine to me, I like my furniture a tad oversized as long as it fits.

I missed it - the 4 chairs should be fine. Your table is beautiful.

I think it's right size table for all this room. I have seen people hanging bigger size mirror in the picture frame on such walls to make wall visually further away... besides that, you can do a lot with that wall, make it interesting. Also, bench should on the wall side of the table, opposite side should have chairs

Thanks Shirlpp & hbfn. OZ thank you. Yes I want to do some kind of cool art on that big wall. And thanks, didn't realize bench should go on wall side!

Love the table and the size is great. The table has a very old world Italian style and the chair seems more of a Victorian square oak table piece. Could you use the chairs without the pads? I think that detracts from the overall look.
It will all look great put together.

Thanks swap! So this is actually a beach house & I was going for a casual look. DH really wanted to use those chairs because we already have them & they're collecting dust in our basement. Do u think they'll look off? We do not have to use those chair cushions.

KateF, Lolz... I'm from Eastern Europe, born in Ukraine, lived in Lithuania, also traveled all over Central Europe... Benches are always placed to the wall side, other-wise somebody drunk can flip over and crack the back of his head. :) Myself have couple benches I'm dragging them with me wherever I move and they always ends up on the wall side... IDK... just a common sense...

I think I'll have to use the chairs I have with the bench for now... but I do love the look of more modern chairs with a trestle table... similar to these pics below... could these white plastic chairs work with my table one day?

    My table....

love the transparent ones... nice combination of victorian and modern mix... yours wood base with cushion pad ones sucks, sorry. Your bench color has to match something, ether table wood or be gray to work with plastic chairs
