Spray paint them red. Or navy. Or green. The room desperate needs COLOR.

I think a vase of fresh flowers or a bowl of lemons would be enough.

No spray paint! Lovely as they are. Agree with bowl of fruit or flowers.
Thx! have brightly color vases. I'll start with the flowers first. I agree needing color. We haven't agreed on the paint colors...lol

Could be that whatever area is open to this photo, matters as to paint.... I see chalky finishes that remind me of soft blue-green robin's egg blue type...

Maybe the counter and floor is a bit too earthy for that light a paint idk.

I suggest picking a color from your lovely stone. All monitors are different when it comes to color. Do I see a shade of green? Perhaps new stool upholstery a bit brighter than that shade.

Color was from a soft mustard to a slate blue.

Don't paint them. They look great the way they are, however they look hung too high in this picture.

I'm not going to paint them. It took months just to get the hubby to hang them. I think I would get the side eye if I took them down.

I like your kitchen, except the finish of the stools doesn't seem to fit. It could just be the colors aren't true on my screen.
I would add color to the pillows of the stools

And colorful art on the wall

I'm not sure that the shabby chic of the lighting goes with the sleeker finishes of the rest of the kitchen. The color blends too much as well. Maybe a warm metal? Or something like an artsy colorful Chihuly glass fixture?

Be careful with that himalaya counters, it's quartzite - marble and quartz mix in natural way, so it's not as resistant as granite. Any fruit acid will etch it, not to mention that anything you will drag over it will leave tiny scratches.

Pendants should be between 28-32" from top of counter...

I'm with simstress - the stools just don't go. At all. Get something simpler - in a dark wood to go with the island, but with a pop of colour on the seats. Then repeat the pop of colour in an accessory or two - bowl of lemons, vase of flowers...

I lowered the height of the chandeliers. I see why you selected the counter stool design, but the finish is too pink. They need more contrast.

What color should the china hutch be painted? I want the dining room to be elegant and it means a great deal to choose the right color.
Maybe the flash distorted the color but the stool is a soft grayish blue tone
  • 9 years ago

The pendants need to be lowered about 12 or so inches. Nothing wrong with the monochromatic look if that's what you're going for.

Refreshing to see an uncluttered kitchen but you could use a few accents on the counters. A few touches that make a house a home. Even if you don't like clutter.

Is this room seen from the kitchen? It would be amazing if the chairs where covered in a blush or very light gray/green..the hutch is beautiful would leave that alone...recover chairs and replace rug...it will look like a entirely new space...love your dining room set so pretty...the red is giving it a slight Asian feel..but the furniture and chandelier has a beautiful french feel!!:)) gorgeous!!

Quartzite is a naturally occurring stone found in the earth just like granite and marble. It is known to be tougher than granite. It's a good choice for counters since it is very hard and resistant to heat, scratches and etching.

Quartz is a man-made product using sand.

In this image the chairs seem to be a color that works with the counters. In the picture below it the chairs look pink? Pink not so good.

Even if art were this color, a wall paint could be very soft - idea for color palette with this type art:
