My monitor doesn't show the color difference. The wall color (and eventually the countertop) will definitely influence how "white" all of your whites appear, so I'd at least paint the walls first and see if you can live with the trim after that.

I think whats throwing me is the door. That door is so close to the cabinets, it almost looks like it should be one of them.

perhaps if you did the door to match the cabinets? The trim would be ok in that respect. or do the door in the gray of the wall.

I don't think you will notice it at all once the walls are painted and the other elements are installed.

I think it's too soon to call honestly. You need to see how the counters, wall color & other whites play together in the end. The counter might balance the trim white. One thing I would focus on now, is the wall color. Make sure you like it with the cabinets and take it from there. Good luck :)

It will be fine... the door and trim are on an angle so the light hits them differently anyway... here's a picture I found ( although not a great one )

On a side note - please don't let that tape stay on the cabinets too long.... I had a rep from a cabinet company once tell me NO Blue Tape! Even though it's painters tape, it is not meant for being stuck on cabinets that are factory finished... he said the Green one is ok...

What if you paint the walls Cool December in a matte finish. Now woodwork and walls are the same color in different finishes. Cabs are Dove White.

Find a quartz that matches the Dove White of the cabinets. If you do that, then you have two colors…the Cool December for walls and trim and the Dove white for cabs and counters.

Paint the ceiling…and coordinate that color with the backsplash.

Thank you everyone for the input. My husband dislikes white walls and prefers the contrast of white trim and gray walls. I will take the above advice and wait to see how all the elements work together. Worse case, if I am bothered by the white mismatch, we can always repaint in 10 years or so. First world problems!

You are correct. They are noticeable. Consider painting both the trim and the walls the wall color but in a satin. Since the paint wouldn't have to be cut in you should remain on schedule and it will look intentional and terrific! Don't stress.

absolutely wait until everything is in before deciding. I don't think the trim will be the issue. The door maybe, but not the trim. And the door is easy to paint yourself.

I think it looks just fine. Do you really want everything to be a perfect 100% match? It all looks like it blends nicely...the trim doesn't make your cabinets look yellow which has happened to a few people here on Houzz, so I think you should continue with the scheduled painting and once it's all done (counters, backsplash, etc) you won't even notice.

That door is to the walk in corner pantry. In hindsight I would ordered a door with a frosted glass pane. All of the interior doors, casings, ceilings and baseboards have been painted the same Cool December.

M Y, how did your kitchen turn out? I'm currently doing my kitchen and I also have Kraftmaid Dove White. I chose DE "white" for the trim. The painter had already painted the ceilings in Swiss Coffee even though I said not to. I wasn't happy, but it is what it is. I'm also considering Porpoise for the walls. Please post pictures of your completed kitchen, I'd love to see it!

So all the people who commented on the post were correct - once all of the other elements are in place, I really don't mind the color inconsistencies. Kraftmaid Dove White has a slight gray tint which does contrast with my white trim. You see the contrast to the left of the pantry door and near the baseboard - but those are the only 2 places it is very obvious. I also swapped out the pantry door for one with a frosted pane and it helped a lot. DE Porpoise is a great color - we ran it throughout our house. Good luck!

Beautiful! Great call on the glass door! I totally agree with you that the Dove White cabinets have a gray tint to it. Funny, some people see it, others don't. I do! So my first gray paint choice did not look good with the cabinets. It was too similar. So now I'm considering Porpoise. So glad to hear you're happy with it. I was afraid it would be too dark. I'm considering it for the whole house too (except bedrooms). But it looks so light in your kitchen! Thanks for posting the pictures!!
