it looks like it lost its porch a while back, which is why it looks naked.

Yup that is the front door. We would like to do a couple projects at a time. Porch might not make it until next spring/summer. Budget is pretty flexible.

Hold off until you get the porch rebuilt, because building it will mess up any plantings you have in that area.

You might want to look at pics of authentic houses from the period - even better if you can find pics of that very house. Kinda looks like the classic midwestern L-shaped farmhouse (even though its in town). Besides missing porch the windows look terribly mismatched and possibly the opening size altered (cant tell if its vinyl or original siding). Esp the pair in the dormer - notice how all the other windows are more vertically oriented which was more typical of 1800s. I would replace the dormer windows with 3 narrower windows to make it them more vertical/consistent w/ other windows and the orig style. Cant tell if those are replacement windows or if any of them are original - but it might be worth getting all consistent and appropiate historic style.

Often windows of that era had exterior framing around them that was very wide & beefy and beautifully designed - not sure what if anything original you have in that regard. Exterior colors - typically darker and/or more substantial than what is common now.
