and this one is most appropriate for June because I have gotten eight inches of rain already this month and it's only the fifth day of June. Puddles around my Ponderosa lemons....

Evan, LOL! Sure does illustrate the wide range of climate citrus can tolerate. On average, I get around 55 inches of rain here annually. These Ponderosas are in the lowest part of my yard so I'm a little surprised they survived and even thrived here. Not only does it get soaking wet, it takes a while to dry out since the soil is compact clay....rolling eyes. So much for following the directions I have read on every citrus tree I ever bought..."plant in well-drained sandy soil".

Finally got around to a couple photos before dinner. (My wife is still naming all our trees)

Ollie the Orange:

This tree has pretty much dropped all the old leaves and put out a ton of new growth. I suppose it's showing me it likes water, food and sun.

Blood Orange:

Finally got the blood orange in the ground and it seems happy so far. I have a little CLM on one leaf but nothing to worry about yet.

Key Lime:

My last potted citrus. Still wanting to get this one planted but it's going to take some digging in the front lawn, and some sort of change in the sprinkler system.

Amanda, that is one cool looking bug! Did you ever find out what the name of it is? You are ahead of us in the ripe raspberry department. . Ours are just starting to bud out!

Mike, I love spring! We have such long, cold, and dreary winters. I long for the days when they start getting longer, the sun brighter and the temperature warmer. The citrus, along with myself, thrive more under those conditions... :)

Steve, my hubby and I planted a Reliance peach tree years ago, but the deer kept eating the tops of the leaves and branches off and it finally went to peach tree heaven. . Lol

We have two Canadian Harmony Peach trees and two other varieties whom the variety names are slipping my mind at the moment. We will not get any peaches this year as we had a really heavy freeze this spring and it nipped the flower buds, unfortunately. But we will have lots of plums and cherries. . :)

Beautiful trees everyone! When I see all of that gorgeous fruit, especially the grapefruit , I wish you were my neighbors because I would be more than happy to take some off of your hands. I love, love, love grapefruit. I am looking forward to the day when my trees produce...

You know it's just fine to post anything related to nature, even if it's not a citrus tree since even the skies and mountains add to all the glory of these trees we enjoy around here. I loved those pics and I wanted to stare at them again. Not to say that the trees you posted above are not enough, most surely I am in love with all your trees, they are all so beautiful and thank you! Looks like you know how to make them happy despite your heat. Great job my friend. Such good shapes too.

How do you like the Rio? Is that kind of sweeter than a regular grapefruit? I have a tree that LOVES to flower freely and very hardy here, even in cold temps on my dimmed wet porch..

John, that's crazy that you can get that much water and that they still thrive. In fact, I know for a fact that citrus trees can THRIVE with tons of water and rain as long as they are fed well and the soil does drain which clay does. In fact, many of my trees on our land in Puerto Rico love rain and still grow in what is mostly clay and red dirt, but look yellow because they are never fertilized. If I lived there, I would be doing that all the time and have the best looking trees!

A number of my trees are budding and flowering like crazy. They smell so good and the bees are enjoying them as well..

3 Nagami Kumquat seedlings and 2 lemon seedlings, above. I had six seedlings of the NK, but three fizzled out. Valentine Pummelo fruit. I picked it off yesterday so it will devote it's energy into growing more. It was hard to do as the fruit are so lovely, but it is still a relatively young plant. Sigh.. lol

The lemon or orange seedling that sprouted up in the compost pile under my banana plant late last summer. . It is just over a foot tall and sprouting some new growth now that it is outside. . I need to repot it in the gritty mix today.

What's the deal with grapefruit. Maybe I tasted a bad one but it was bitter like hell.

Just started, Grapefruits are definitely an acquired taste but it helps when they're picked at their peak ripeness. I add sugar or sweetener to mine when I eat them, that also helps. Some people just don't like them. I suggest you find someone you know that has a grapefruit tree and ask them to give you one when they're fully ripe. You should be coming into season now through august/September in Australia.

Today I moved some plants around and noticed the key lime has a few fruit but not sure if they will all stay. The flowers are extra small... is that normal? Later on might give it a little trim

It has been hitting in the 90s here so I have had to increase watering a lot. The sun has been baking everything here in Indiana. The trees seem to be handling the heat and stress great. They are throwing out a lot of new growth, except for my Meyer. Oh you finicky Meyer. It has three lemons about the size of nickels so that might be why the growth of the plant has slowed.

My calamondin has flowers! And it's first fruitlet! I am so excited that it has become more than a big bush haha!

My gold nugget has one flower that's about to open. This tree and my lime tree are still on the deck because it seems they really love the heat. They are thriving.

I know it's not citrus but I'm really excited to share a picture of the first rose I have that's bloomed! I started tiny little plants with 3 leaves that have exploded with gorgeous flowers. They are fire and ice roses. When they first bloom they are mostly white and they start slowly turning more and more red!

Hopefully soon I have some hibiscus flowers to share. I thought that my plant was not alive, but it has exploded with growth!

My latest on my seed grown Meiwa kumquats.

Each of my 5 Meiwa kumquat trees is in a bottomless 1 gallon food tin. The trunk is in a 1 inch riser so I can water the tree with out getting the trunk wet. The gallon tin is bottomless so that the excess water passes past the trees roots into a 5 gallon bucket of soil with beets to use up the excess water and feed. This setup protects against root rot and trunk rot. It has served me well and promote the best growth over any other methods i have used in the past.

Amanda, ROSE pics are a true welcome here since I am very partial with them. They are my favorite fragrant bush and that is why I have planted over 20 of them! Many David Austin and Tea Roses that I protect all winter long or I would loose quite a few. I love the fragrance as much as I do on my citrus. I have a couple just opening now I will share here too. Thank you

Finally got a chance to take some pics. Love this time of year. My plants probably don't look any better than they do right now for me here up north. So green, but to overwinter this year will require some trimming to get inside.

I was up on a ladder this morning picking figs before the birds and squirrels beat me to them. The ladder perspective of the adjacent lemons was great so I grabbed a few shots to share. The lemons were my first citrus trees to plant and I really didn't know how far apart to plant them, nor did I know if they would grow in this location. Now I wish I had planted them about 20 feet apart rather than 7 feet!

The birds are already scraping the peel of some of the lemons for the oil....argh! The fruit will be fine but it grows disfigured and it won't have zest in the damaged area.

Very nice Evan love your citrus grove and the sunsets are breathtaking. Your Tango and Gold Nugget are growing into very nice trees That Oro Blanco is beginning to look mighty tasty. Evan looks like your tree's made it through that terrible heat wave looking might fine . Evan looks like the both of us are going to have to open a citrus stand who knows we might make enough to buy more citrus tree's , this hobby is way to addictive . Looks great my friend .

With all this heat my Moro blood orange has put out a lot of new growth. It's nice and happy being planted in the ground.

Bee decided to take a nap on the new growth. :)

My cute tangelo enjoying some afternoon shade. It gets tons of full sun too but with the temps we've been having, this spot is advantageous. This was a couple weeks ago -I just noticed this thread and its HOT so I'm not going out there to take current photos lol. The leaf curling in the new growth in this photo isnt happening for the new growth in getting now. I'm thinking I wasn't watering enough at that point- the common cause of anything here when it's so hot.

Sun scald on the navel after we had a couple 120° days. Glad to say it's dropped to 110° so the rest of the tree is still a good color. The top half is going to suffer for a bit longer but I've see them make it before. Hoping we make it to monsoon without another scorcher!

Once it cools down maybe I'll get some current photos and my lime - this is their first summer and I'm impressed they are doing this well. ❤️

Loving all of your photos on here - makes me want to get more citrus trees! I'll have to pick your brains about kummwats - I've always wanted to try them.

Hey doctorcooper, I've got a lemon tree that came in the same container as yours

Do you happen to know what kind of lemon it is? How long did you have yours until it began fruiting?

It's in a new pot now, in a sunny location.

It was repotted with a bit of steer manure near the bottom of the pot, I used well draining soil, and treated it with citrus and avocado fertilizer.

Any advice other than what I've already done to encourage fruiting?
