Tile floor=major mess, is there any hope?!?!

After spending much time effort and money, demoing original floor, buying tile (12x24), hiring who I thought was a competent tile contractor my kitchen floor looks horrible. He laid the mud job but the tiles are NOT LEVEL. if I run my hand over it, even when just looking at it-some pieces you can tell they are not flush with one another. And the grout lines aren't even either. (That's not as concerning) the offset looks good (1/3rd offset) and from far it looks decent...

My concerns are: will tile done this way crack over time and is it at all possible to remove the five or size major problem pieces and replace with new ones, or at this point do I have to either live with it or shell out more money to redo?

Hope there's some option...this is so frustrating. Thanks for your time houzzers!
