Will this chenille hold up on my sofa?

I'm trying to decide between 2 fabrics for my living room sofa -- a chenille and a velvet. I prefer the chenille because it's super-soft, whereas the velvet feels coarse when you run your hand opposite the direction of the nap. But I'm worried about performance. We're pet-less with 1 college-kid, but we do eat and watch movies on the sofa.

Can anyone weigh in on the durability and comfort of these 2 fabrics?

Here are the specs:

TOP CHOICE: Robert Allen Royal Chenille in Cobalt (no stain-guarding available and not recommended, 39,000 double rubs, 57% rayon/26% poly/17% cotton, pure solvent dry cleaning).

2ND CHOICE: Robert Allen Strie Velvet in Blueberry (Comes with a water repellent and satin guard already on the fabric, pure solvents dry cleaning, 100,000 double rubs, 51% cotton/40% ray/9% poly).
