Mine have. But I over-winter mine in pots in the garage then start this very interesting process on April 1 of taking them out during the day and putting them back at night. Here's a link:

If you have only planted yours in the ground recently, I'd give them more time. I think they need to experience a specific ground temperature for a longer period of time to emerge.

Sadly, I have also been informed the newest one I just got over the weekend is infected so I need to throw it out. I haven't the heart to do it yet, but I guess it has to be done.

I put two of mine out in the front porch maybe late April or early May. They got very minimal sunlight. Today I spot little growth in one of them. I'm very excited!

I couldn't resist to share that mine in Phoenix are about 5 ft tall already and blooming nicely :) PS- Don't skimp on water and fertilizer. Those huge leaves transpire a lot in hot weather.

Popmama, it's nice to reap the benefits of all your hard work. Congrats Gardenchloe. It's always fun to watch plants emerge out of the soil. Richsd, it would be fun to see yours. Mine got about 3 feet tall. Those must be awesome!

So nothing yet. Anxious, I gently poked down a little bit today to see if I could find some green. With the super warm temps that are coming, I'll give it another 2 weeks. It will be a disappointment if they don't make it, but I didn't put nearly the love that Papamama & Gardenchloe did to ensure survival.

This was my first time storing cannas. I only have three. Last Fall, I put mine away a lot later than pop mama did. This year I put them out way way later than she did and did not move them in and out like she did. So far only one broke the ground. If all three of mine come back, then I am afraid I might fall in love with them too much and start buying more. I find myself getting pretty obsessed with flowers this year!

Still only one showing growth. I will give it two more weeks and see how it goes. :)

We had canna at our house when we lived in Hawaii... Damn things spread everywhere by rhizomes and and the little black seeds that give them one of their common names of "Indian shot."

Thats probably not a problem in Colorado...Nor is it particularly useful information in regards to this thread....

Update:

About 2 weeks ago, I had officially given up on the canna lilies ever coming up and purchased a new one. It's in the ground and growing well. I'm going to take a few extra steps that I didn't take before in overwintering the cannas that didn't make it.

How are your Canna? I overwinter quite a few. I put them out very late this year, but some are 3ft tall now.

Popmama, those are beautiful! You obviously have mastered overwintering them.

One of those is new. But the other two were over-wintered. I do have losses too. I lost two dwarf varieties this year. Two out of 8 that I over wintered did not make it. I used that as an opportunity to buy two more! :-)
