Definitely add landscaping first. Low lyng plants with a small tree or two to the right. Try some shrubs that do well in your area for the left of the driveway. Next paint the front doors - it looks so dark in there it's hard to tell where the entrance is. Paint it a bright color such as turquoise or orange. Then after that, take another hard look at your exterior house color. If the landscaping has not softened the look, try a lighter exterior color.

I like this house a lot, especially the front doors. How about picking a color from the field stone wall to paint it gray or very light tan with sage green trim? Turquoise trim is also traditional for this style. To help lighten it up, paint the underside of the roof overhang bright off-white. The door bottoms look as if they may have some water damage to the finish. If you sand them down, try using a finish designed for outdoors such as a spar varnish, or paint them a Taos blue.

here are some color ideas, note the trim colors in particular:

As for landscaping, I'd go with something informal such as nasturtiums or Mexican evening primrose if you are in the Southwest. Good perennials might include daylilies and iris or black eyed susans or rambling roses. If the oak tree requires dry roots (nothing planted under it), try a layer of rounded pebbles or plain shredded bark.
