It could be amazing but the question is how high are your ceilings??

With your room being square you should be doing a round table...the ends of the table will be very tight to move around...you need at least 2' on each end just to pull chair in and out....so you need 10' just for table and chairs so once someone is sitting in chairs pulled out you will barely have a foot behind you on each end....I would rethink the rectangle table..round with round chandelier will be much better choice!

This round extendable table is a very good choice for your space...or something similar.

You need a minimum of 14' long room for that size table and it can not be extended at all! Please consider changing table it really will not work:(

How to measure for table...take length of table + 48" needed on each end..take that total and divide by 12...so 72+48+48=168..divide by 12=14'

so a 48" round needs a minamum of 12' your room is perfect for a 48" round table...I know this is not what you want to hear..but you will be so unhappy with the table choice once in your room.

Both of those are a total rip off. I can't see myself spend that much money on something that looks like I could have done myself, maybe even better. 99% of that price is just because it says ethan allen on it. I know for sure I can build a table waaaaay better then that $2,200. Id do it for a few hundred.

Thank you for the feed back. A round table might make sense if we were not planning on having any other furniture in the room, but we are planning on putting a buffet cupboard against one wall and a living wall on the opposite. The table is 72" in a 156" room leaving 42" on either side, which meets your criteria of at least two feet. Yes, when extended will be a tight fit, but we will shift the table slightly into the living room for large functions. Here are a couple of pictures of the room with the previous owners furnishings (72" rectangular table).

As for the price, we got the table on sale. I wanted to build it myself, but with moving into a new house, work, and parenting a 4.5 yo i just don't have the time. That being said I am perfectly happy paying for well constructed furniture

Are you already moved in? I would think it'd be pretty easy to take a piece of cardboard and fashion a 38" diameter circle to hold up and see how it feels in person. Seems to me a 38" light over a 41" table will feel a bit in your face.

No we are not in the space yet. We are also considering this one, if the round is to big.

I actually like the rectangle one better. I know your room measurements are square, but with the addition of the furniture and living wall, and with the opening to the living room on one end, it feels rectangular. At least that's how it comes across in photos. I like that the rectangle light fixture emphasizes that.

On another post, someone had suggested that you add the 2 lengths of your room - so for you 26, to come up with the recommended width of the chandelier, and then you multiply ceiling height by 2.5-3 to get the height of chandelier..so would be 25" or so for you? Not sure if that is still the general recommendations. Also, may be different for dining rooms?

Start with the 13 x 13 room. You need 3’ around a dining table to be able to pull out the chairs.

Your 6 x 3.5 table will work, but the seating will be minimal unless you put in the leaves. Whoops, now you are no longer in the dining room.

Chandelier should be half the size of your table. So, if you go with your choices, yes they will fit.

You measure a dining chandelier by the size of the table, not by the size of the room.

No chandelier is ever too big.
