With all that extra good fertilizer they should be twice as big next year :-) How about weeds, will that kind of mulch keep them at bay? I'm making an experiment with worm manure this year, hope the result will be worth the costs.

Karen, My neighbor put 8 inches of the same on all their plants last fall and there are no weeds and everything they had lived except echinacea but I never had the energy to do it that thick. Time will tell I guess

Your hard work certainly shows! Beautiful garden. One of the local hosta buffs puts 2-4 inches of manure on every year. You'd think the plants would get buried, but they look terrific.

This was the first year I've had a lot of hosta seedlings. I tried to move them to one spot, but there were so many I gave up. If they live but are all plain and boring, there's always the assorted clubs asking for plant donations.

It looks magazine-worthy - the view, the expanse of lawn -AND those gorgeous, meticulous beds! Wow factor! The hostas aren't bad, either, LOL. They look absolutely fantastic! Inspiring!
