Carrot Report

I planted carrots March 22. 77 days ago.

Coral carrot - these were buried under the bush beans, so they are still in the ground. Don't know if they will do anything now, with more light.

Coreless Amsterdam - wonder where I planted them? I didn't see a marker. Need to make maps....

cosmic purple - these are SO pretty. I know from last year if you peel them the purple is gone. But they are pretty. And they were sweet. I was afraid spring carrots would be strong.

Kuroda - these were meant to be left in the ground longer, 80 DTM, they are supposed to be heat resistant. Still, there were nice sized roots and taste is good.

Napoli - I love these. Always make the biggest roots and taste good.

Pusa Asita Black Carrot - this, and the red below were bred in India for nutrition. Last year BC sent me a new pack of seeds, saying the ones they sent originally were not pure. I got 1. Where the black and red were planted is where the ones that bolted are. They are skinny yellow roots. 1 good dark purple carrot and half a dozen normal orange carrots.

Pusa Rudhira Red Carrot - see above

Romance F1 - I planted 2 tomato plants in this block, so not many survived. Nice looking carrots with good taste. It seems these are also supposed to be heat tolerant and have a 70 DTM. There were a lot of these that weren't very big (or they could be Coreless Amsterdam since I didn't find that marker). I chocked it up to being shaded.

All of these, except for Kuroda and Romance were less than 60 DTM. I guess I left them longer than necessary, but they also got shade from the tomatoes. I will plant Muscade in the fall (70 DTM)
