What color is that back wall and what does it relate to?

Is there a reason the throw pillows do not match the color of the back wall?

Is there room in your space to pull the couch forward a bit and add a sofa table behind it? You could then add some lamps on either side of the window with some decor on the table (even art on an easel) to fill that space visually. The table wouldn't have to be too deep. The lamps should be large enough to not be dwarfed back there.

Your design is very stark, horizontal and rectangular. Can you add some soft touches? What about a white scrollwork piece of art?

Think about the entire back wall as your masterpiece. If you add some small groupings of circular, for example, it will soften the look. Your couch and the colors are so inviting.

I'll try to add a picture. Imagine the art without the "squares". Imagine a soft curtain of some kind. I think you want to stay away from anything else rectangular. Feel free to disagree with me. Good luck! Your dog can be in any picture--any part of him! LOL

I like the idea of a table behind the sofa, and then putting lamps there.

Is this window need for ventilation? I have learned that Asian people want lots of light and will put a window in unusual (to us) places to bring in more light. Perhaps this was the case here?

That said, if there are other windows, how about using stained glass piece to make it a focal point?

I once saw a window seat/built ins built around a small window. They used a floral for the curtain and cushions. I saw it with the curtain closed.

Maybe do some color blocking on the back wall and add shutters to make the window appear larger.

I think I would paint the wall a lighter color....maybe the same color as the window frame...that way the window won't stand out so much.....You could put floor length drapes up. Or I do like the ideas of the table behind the sofa with the taller lamps, and a picture on either side of the window.

I would suggest hanging some drapes that are longer than the width of the window (about the width of your couch) - if you pull them to cover the edges of the window, it creates the illusion that the window is wider than it is. You could also use the drapes as an opportunity to bring some pattern into the space.
