Wow, busy weekend Linda! Enjoy your family celebrations.

I don't have any specific plans except for a rehearsal on Sunday night, so I imagine I'll do some sewing. I really need to clean the house, too. :(

I started quilting my One Block Wonder yesterday and hope to keep at it. I also sandwiched View from the Cabin. I made my daughter a little hat last night. Way too much work for a not too satisfactory finish. I won't be doing that again.

My husband is going camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness tomorrow, so I'll have a few days to myself before I leave for New York City on Tuesday. I hope to get some quilting done in between packing. I really have to think over what to take along. I'm so used to a car culture, where everything you do is based on having a vehicle with your "stuff" in it. In NYC, you carry everything you need in a bag or backpack. If you go out for the day, you'd better be prepared for anything and everything. It will be an adventure.

Yard work for me on Saturday and Guild meeting on Sunday. I'm counting the meeting as sewing.

Lois, have fun in NYC! Any plans for a fabric store visit? I'm hoping to get to this one some day, I've used a touch of her fabric, very nice. Modern quilt store-NYC

Valarie, thanks so much for the information on Virginia Findlay Wolfe. I hadn't even thought of visiting a quilt shop in NYC, but I will definitely try to work a stop at her shop into the agenda that my sis has worked up for us. I love her fabrics, and she's a former Minnesota gal. I'd never heard of her before. Her latest book looks really interesting too. Thanks again.

I hope to find time to quilt the shirt quilt I basted a couple of days ago. I'm doing some extensive free motion quilting and it takes hours for each row.

NYC sounds so exciting, Louis.

We just got back from 2 weeks in Morocco and Spain and am trying to catch up. We did go into a couple fabrics shops in Madrid - lots of flamenco type fabrics - synthetics, etc. Not any cotton I could find. It was interesting to see, but nothing I wanted to buy. My 89 year old mother weeded our entire raspberry patch while we were gone - bless her heart! Today we sorted through some boxes of fabric I inherited from a friend and she picked out a stack of fabrics that might work for some quilt backings for her - some pieces are 5-6 yards each! Others are just plain ugly! Tomorrow we are having professional family portraits taken with 4 generations - both of the great grandmas, DH & I and our DS & DIL and our beautiful granddaughter, Charlotte. (Charlotte is a great name, Linda! :) ) The kids will come over for bbq after the portraits are done. We figured having both of our moms here (89 and 91 years old) we had better do it before they aren't here for good. Snapshots are okay, but this will be better. Our moms go back to Arizona Wednesday,then I can get back to sewing.

I have a donation quilt backed and ready to sew/quilt. Plus I'm working on my Flamingo and have a couple more quilts I want to get backed.

I like hearing about families getting together while they still can. Lois, enjoy time with your sister. Linda, What better time to get together than for the grands birthdays! Being a grandma can be hard work. lol Theresa, Time spent with your girls is priceless. Sue, I enjoy tagging along with you on your journeys. :-) I think it's awesome that your 'moms' do as much as they do. And, you're right.....none of us are here for good. Love, touch, smile and make memories with the young'uns.

We're going to do a family portrait in August when we go on our Alaska trip. It won't be the whole family, but we're still going to take the opportunity.

Met the newest great, grandson yesterday. ☺ Took a four generation picture with DH before we left.

We are home from Sami's dance recital and changed into comfy clothes. DS and family left earlier than I expected on Saturday so I had time to run to the LQS and get the last clue to the mystery quilt. I plan to work on it this afternoon.

We had a cookout for Charlotte's birthday party on Saturday at noon. The five little grands are so cute together.

The recital was nice. Sami was in the youngest group. They wore PJs for their costumes and were adorable.

Finished the individual units for the quilt, started laying them out, only to discover I am two blocks short. Rats!!

I headed to LQS earlier today to find fabric for DGS' quilt for his university apt. Thought I had it all figured out yardage wise but got twisted around there. I had a fall (again) earlier this week and I am sure I didn't hit my head but I seem to get muddled easily. I was getting out of the car, with my hand still on the door handle, when DH decided to drive away and down I went. Right arm took the brunt so elbow, wrist are sore and some lovely scrapes and bruises. Thankfully my two daughters and one son in law were there to take charge. Good times!!!

Anyway, off to make two more blocks and get that top into the pile.
