Probably Elfin thyme, Thymus serpyllum 'Minus'. This is really not an indoor plant, winter hardy to zone 4. Would be much denser and thick if in full sun with good drainage.

i am in Zone 5a New England, so will harden this off for outdoors.

Do you think I might be able to grow this berptween paving stones instead of the weeds and grass that are now between he stones.

Alternatively, I have a huge raft of lemon thyme 3'x3' in the garden (lean soil) that I could try. Only a few volunteers of tall garden phlox poke their head through that lemon thyme.

Yes, this is a creeping (non-culinary) thyme that is most often used as a groundcover. Just get rid of ALL weeds and grasses in the area before planting.

The reason you have seen no flowers is that any thyme is not inclined to bloom if grown indoors......just not enough light.

That explains why the thyme is not that fragrant ;-)

I will try my best to "get rid of all weeds", but I live in a very weedy place. I should probably develope a taste for chickweed, henbit, sorrel, plantain, dandelion and self heal.

Maybe I'll grow a raft of it before planting it between pavers
