Nice show! I'm impressed at how quickly your CA fuchsia grew. Mine is pouting after a good season last year.

The fuchsia really took off last year. I planted them mid summer and gave them a bit of water every week or so. I hacked them back a bit after they finished flowering. I've heard you should cut them almost all the way to the ground but they still looked nice to me so I didn't want to cut them back too much.

I decided to grow a few more plants so I pulled a few stems out with the roots intact and buried them around the yard. Most of those survived even though I just plopped them in a hole and gave them some water. The tops died but the underground portion/roots sprouted new plants. I also took some cuttings and they all rooted directly in water. I planted those but had only about half of them make it. These plus a bunch of runners mean I'll have a lot of flowers this year.

I did prune to about 7" after the season--mostly ratty-looking stems. It is growing, but has fewer, but longer stems this year. I keep forgetting the name of the cultivar I planted, and have to look it up on the PHS trials page. Ah, it is the Bowman's #1, I believe.
