The problem is the lack of standards in the country where the dying is taking place like India. They dye the stone to get consistency; what they use to dye the stone is anyone's guess.

I'd take some acetone to the slab and see if I could get any dye to leach out.

Black Granite also shows every little water spot and speck of dirt. I have many friends who regret going with a very dark granite for this reason. I agree with Joseph we just purchased Granite and were told don't get it from India as their standards are not there.

As recommended by Organic Home, please reconsider the black. I have it and dislike it. Intensely. Not only do you have to wipe/wash it, like any counter, you have to buff it -- just to get rid of the inevitable oily smudges and fingerprints that remain, but which you can't see on any other granite.
