I have some bird droppings that have grown and developed similar foliage so it may not be a camellia. Some of my sasanquas have really tiny serrated leaves but I could not see that (serration) in your pics. I would vote "no"... like you suspected.

I don’t think this is a camellia, either. Camellias have alternate leaves and usually much more pronounced veins. Your plant looks more like a ficus.

Edit: a ficus also has alternate leaves, so it probably is not a ficus. Could be a privet.
