We have red oak hardwood floors on the first floor, refinished on-site. We are getting ready to rip the carpet from the stairs and second floor and replace it with pre-finished red oak hardwoods. I would like the second and first floors to match as much as posible. On the other hand, I prefer a wider plank, 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 inches wide, and a more glossy finishe. Do you think that it will still look good if I try to much wood and color as much as possible, but go with wider and glossier? There is only a little bit of first floor visible from the top of the second floor. I am attaching pictures of first floor and stairs. Thanks so much!
