We had the typical communication problem between the plumbing sub and the tile sub. The plumbing sub put a temp cap on the CI riser and the tile sub came in and tiled to the temp. Because it was a fairly large remod, this important detail was missed, by both the GC and us.

As time went on, the CI rust infiltrated the tile.

What's the best way to approach this? Remove the affected tiles, seal the CI with rust preventer and re-tile? Refloating the entire shower pan would be a nightmare.
