Zone 5 questions

I am redoing my front landscaping and want to add some conifers. I am going to use some birds nest spruce and tru-dwarf mugo pines that I know will do fine. But any experience on Thuja Bobozam in a southern exposure spot, next to the house, with a small retaining wall to the west of it to protect from west winds and a corner deciduous planting to the east of it? Then I was thinking of putting a temelhof cypress on the corner of my house with a southwest exposure. Thoughts on those last two? Zone 5, Northwestern Illinois.
