That canopy looks totally smooth and screwless. Huh. Superglue magnets to the canopy and a spot on the box? You could also send the whole thing to me. :)

there is no hole for a screw and there is nothing threaded on the canopy. It's really weird. (We are having an electrician install it).

Are you dead sure it is assembled properly?

Have the electrician drill holes in the canopy and then screw it in.

Actually, I would use two or three dabs of clear silicon between the bottom of the cover and the rod. A bit of tape til the silicon sets and it is secure.

Don't make screw holes in the top part of the canopy, that will ruin it. Make a small hole in the very bottom collar of the canopy where it slides up the rod and use a small brass screw to cinch it to the rod. That's what my antique fixtures with similar canopies had.
