I tried the two bulbs in another socket and both were burned out. Replaced the bulbs but still did not light. Checked the breakers and none had been tripped. (I don't know which circuit the floods are on.) Took the cover off the light fixture and with a voltage detector found no voltage. (Checked the detector before hand to make sure it worked.) Did same with the indoor switch and found no voltage going to the switch. There has been no electrical work done in the house.

The only thing I can think of is an electrical surge burned out both bulbs. But how could that knock out the power to the light fixture? How could I fix this?
