If you're wanting a pop of color, blue could be dramatic. I've had good advice from the color consultants at the BM store.

Trying to point out that it's not a good idea to paint another color when you've got open floor plan.

Clear the surfaces and add colorful decorative pieces. That will go a long way to improve the look.

Add a roman shade over the window that will make a huge difference to break up the white/gray of walls and cabinets. Imagine how the kitchen below would look without the roman shade....

You're right, you do need color but not on the walls.

Art for the walls. Probably not in the kitchen but in adjoining rooms. It's not the paint color but the lack of decor to your walls.

Large vertical piece might work but hard to tell from this picture.....more pics?

Try roman shades before painting. You already have a heavy accent wall. The yellow color I'm not loving for your kitchen.
