The fireplace proportion is fine. It may need a mantle if so deired. The art is misplaced. Maybe over the fireplace.

Maybe a thicker mantel would stand out more. Also, definitely need the art moved over the mantel or replaced with a large mirror. The white vase on the right is doing nothing for this look. Try to balance the "weight" on left and right of mantel with objects of a similar color or "feel."

I agree a beefier mantle might be more to your liking.

Thank you for your comments. Not easy with air conditioning unit above. I don't like my fireplace, I still think; my problem is the size of it. I can modify it, its custom made.

I think the issue is the fireplace feels like it's floating a bit (within the room). A large mirror or large minimal painting above the fireplace would do wonders visually. Good luck!

Can you have a hearth built in front of it at the floor? that might help.

The fireplace surround is fine. Without a decorative piece above the fireplace it is bottom heavy and lacks balance. A round or soft-edged piece, preferable shimmering or reflective, with textures or interesting features above the fireplace will bring life. And spotlight it.

You just need to add a beautiful fireplace surround. The problem with electric fireplaces is that they are too low to the floor. I have one and finally figured out that is why the look odd. I had a hearth built and now it looks better

What about mounting the TV above the fireplace and opening up that space to the right. Then you can place your furniture around the fireplace AND the TV. Might really make your space a bit more symmetrical.

What about installing a hearth? Maybe a wider more bold mantle also.

I would extend the tile that covers the fireplace across the whole wall.
