I hope they bring it back in ours, but I doubt it. When we moved here 10 years ago, there were 3 fabric stores within walking distance. Now there are none.

I'm in the DFW area. Here, some stores have fabric departments and some don't. Some newer stores have them and some don't. Same with the inner-city. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

The nice thing about having a Walmart with a fabric department nearby is thread, rotary cutters, pins and the like.

Ours brought sewing and fabrics back about a year ago! Some fun fabrics for kids!

The stores in my area brought back fabric/sewing a few years ago. Also, depending on the item, you can buy on line and do the free ship/store pickup option. They have more items on line than they do in the store. Some of the items (notions and interfacing) are the same brands as carried at JAs and LQS for a fraction of the price.

Our WM does have a small section of precuts and some notions. I have picked up a few FQs when the colours call me but the quality is less than quilt store fabrics. And they never seem to have the thread I need. There used to be a very good fabric dept. I miss it.

Ours has a small selection, but mostly seasonal fabrics. Not gonna complain, it is better than it was.

Our Walmart has always had fabric. They have a nice selection of novelty but not of solids or TOT. I thought I was buying white, but got it home and it looks off-white next to my Kona Cotton white. Oh well, it will get used.

Ours brought it back but put it in a completely different spot in the store. I only found it by accident.

I'm at the point I buy everything on line. I've been sewing enough that I know the manufacturers I like and just wait for sales. I find the prices on line beat the stores from $1, or more a yd. Shipping is normally 5 bucks usps priority, living in a rural area, on line shopping is very convenient.

The drawn back, sometimes the colors are not exactly what I thought they would be, I've only returned fabric once but it was no hassle.
