Arthurm, I don't know why your comment is not printing here. The orchids full name is Cymbidium Little Black Sambo "Black Magic". I know it's a canniculatum hybrid, but don't remember the other parent.

"Black Magic' is useless in finding the grex name of an orchid. There is no register of clone names except where the orchid has an award. The other bit of the name is recorded at Kew and the ancestry can be traced from there. More later! I have to go shopping.

Breeding has Australian Native Cymbidiums canaliculatum and madidum as parents. Does not have that 20C Summer minimum night temp restriction that applies to some and watering might have be reduced a little in winter. Cool tolerant down to just above 0C in winter. Should bloom in late spring.

Plant should survive given air movement, watering and fertiliser. Do not remove the leafless pseudobulbs.

I soaked the plant for a few hours in a kelp solution. Repotted in fresh medium it's tucked back in the most quiet corner of the GH where my fan blows fiercely! I'll move the plant later to hang next to the vandas..

When repotting I was surprised to see a new growth developing! Yea!!!
