We live out in Duvall and have a bumper crop of bunnies this year. It's been a few years since we've seen any at all and then this year there are 4 or 5 that live on our place and I see them up and down our half mile dirt road. Not sure why. No predators? Extra bunny food? Shrug.

There are two living under our giant Holly, a mother and baby that my grandson named "Little Bouncer." They eat our Hostas some, but mostly just munch on the lawn so we just enjoy them. We can get within 4-5' of the little one before it runs off. I see coyotes in the neighborhood (Sammamish) sometimes when going to work at 5am but more often see the cottontails running across the road, or dead ones that were run over or the remains of one eaten by a Coyote.

Present here also, had one nibbling dandelions awhile back (you want weeds? I got 'em!). At one point more than one could be seen browsing neighbors' frequently mowed lawn across the street, despite it being a yard belonging to two dogs.

I had an interesting experience yesterday. My daughter came in from the deck yelling that a rabbit was stuck in the pond. Sure enough, a cottontail had tried to get a drink from the fish pond and fell in, then got stuck in the netting I have to keep the herons from eating the fish. I had to wait for him to quit flopping about to quickly grab him by the scruff of the neck, which kept him still while I released the netting with the other hand. With the lack of rain for 40+ days now, and grasses drying out I guess the creatures are getting desperate for water. I have put out a couple of shallow pans and will top them up daily while we have this 90 degree week.
