They are gorgeous! What zone are you in? When did you plant them? Its my first year doing dahlias too but in zone 7 they are pretty short yet with blooms not even a thought.

Thank you I'm in Zone 7, and I planted in late April. They have grown strange. I have ONE variety (the pink ones) where I have 2 plants about 5 feet tall, and 1 that's about 18 inches tall, one that's 6 inches tall and one that's 1 inch tall (Not doing well, that one). Then the variety with the ragged petals, I planted 4 of those, And I have one plant 4 feet tall, and the others are barely out of the ground. It's been really weird. The only one to be CONSISTENT in growth has been the ones with the purple/white. I don't have any buds on anything smaller than the 18" one. That one has one pretty pink flower on it. It's my very first time with Dahlias, so I don't know if that's weird, or just normal. I almost wonder if the larger ones are stealing the energy from the smaller. Oddly enough, the ones I planted closest together are doing the best. One of the smaller ones stopped growing until we had a huge rain storm. I guess it liked rain water better than the hose and miracle grow I was putting there. LOL. I also have spent a lot of time staking up the bigger ones. Even though their stalks are, in some cases, almost 1 - 1 1/2" in diameter, they are still suffering from the storms this year. If I don't stake them, I think I'd have this huge network on the ground, with them reaching up to the sun again. I had one that I didn't stake right after a storm, and by the time I got to it, the stalk and curved into an almost S shape trying to go back up on it's own. It doesn't "raise" up, it just "Leans" the top part. Plus, I believe I have a green thumb with no brain behind it, because I can't seem to plan a garden to save my life. These are all IN FRONT of all the smaller plants. Partly because I believed the size reference on the package when I bought them. These have doubled those estimates.

Where did you get them? That spikey one looks like the fringed star and start elite dahlias I have planted that have yet to bloom. My cafe au laits have not bloomed yet either but they look happy.

Gorgeous! I love the dew on the first picture. I didn't love the fringy ones last year but they have grown on me and I have quite a few in my garden this year. Your last one is very pretty, almost looks like Pinelands Princess but not quite
