Floor plan struggle - less closet space for a more open living room?

last modified: 9 years ago

We put a poll on here about a week ago asking people to choose between two floor plans. We've since made some changes to the unpopular floor plan and would love to get feedback on the new versions.

Comments very much appreciated!

Floorplan A: involves adding an extra wall to the living room for the TV and having the larger couch face the kitchen island.

The closet in the bedroom is large enough to "walk-in" and has about 50 inches of closet space on each side for a total of 100 inches of closet space.

Floorplan B: keeps the extra wall for the TV but moves back the master bedroom wall to open up the living room and allow for the large couch to face the TV.

Looks / feels much more open but the master bedroom is now a bit smaller.

Each of the two closets in the master bedroom is about 40 inches for a total of 80 inches of closet space - a loss of 20 inches.

Note: both columns on either side of the island are structural and the column to the left of the TV is structural.
