Countertop choices using HanStone Quartz

The following link is not my kitchen, but it might as well be. I finally have my design down on paper. Cream cabinets with the brown wash and then a darker island pretty much like this one - even with this stove - stainless steel.

My issue: I'm trying to use HanStone Quartz because my designer has worked hard for me and has recommended it. I just have no idea what colors to choose. I'd like to do two different colors. 1 color for the regular countertops against the cream cabinets and 1 color for the island against the dark cabinets. Maybe I shouldn't do two different colors?

We really like using Web Don's wilsonart solid surface top. We are builders and use it often. Its the type of material that is as durable as it is beautiful. Its naturally resistant to heat, mold and even mildew. Great for getting tough stains or scratches buffed out.

My floors will be original random width pine from the mid 1800s stained darker as well. And my wall crown moulding will also be stained dark - not white like these.

I did not. I ended up going to the stone warehouse and picking out granite in Magna. I can post a picture if you would like. The kitchen is still under construction-so it's not a finished, polished picture.

That's ok. I was going to get Cambria but now I'm contemplated HanStone mainly because it's basically the same thing just a lower cost. We'll see...we're building new and my kitchen sounds like it looks somewhat like yours. Thanks!

Allison, please make sure that you carefully compare the upkeep and maintenance of the two products. I just read up on the HanStone on their website and it makes me think that it is not as foolproof as the Cambria I have in my kitchen. I think you do get what you pay for on some of these products. With the Cambria you do not have to worry about red wine stains, etc. they clean up even after sitting on the counter overnite and the only cleaning product I use is white vinegar mixed with water which saves quite a bit of money over time.

Thanks. Do you have Cambria? Honestly, my in-laws have Cambria and it's gorgeous...I've yet to see HanStone and am curious what the quality will be like.

I looked at their website and the product looks beautiful. The reason I asked you to investigate it fully is that we used a product similar to Cambria but less expensive in the powder room (sorry, but can't remember its name) and it has different cleaning criteria and is not as impervious to stains. In that little room it works fine but am glad that we don't have to worry about anything with the Cambria in the kitchen.
