Direction of Planks

What direction should the wood planks go? If I go in the direction of the longest wall it will mean horizontal planks in the entryway. Will that look odd?

    I would have the planks go with the length of the room, as it will complement the island placement. I've lived in homes where the plans went horizontally with the entry (as you describe above) and I always received complements. Keep in mind, you'll likely have an entry rug, too. Good luck!
