Please please! One word answers welcomed too! How to price a Marvin or Anderson Window before asking for so many random window quotes?

Total house budget of $175k to get a nice white exterior on white wood with white hardware, "potter" etc casing, and some screens for most on half, very few full or none. (Cross ventilation paths)

I need advice.. between a draftsman quoting (getting ready to contract) and also wondering how I can approach only two.. possibly a distant three and four window dealer for M & A

Extra - on budget..

We are GCing, farmers that live in a tiny cottage on site. We homeschool too; we have 8 stray pets, we are often muddy and scientific. Though we are minimalist in our home. We are going with probably 3 tab roofing because it seems to be the least polluting to the food gardens and for cost. We are going with whatever color real linoleum is a deal, we are going to habitat for any sink and tub or CL. We are using CL for most new furnishings. (We are going for white lap with white trim and white windows to keep things easy) Simple lighting (but seems like a lot of boxes! Maybe we can buy lights and install ourselves into installed boxes over time.) We are concerned. We are building a 1350 main level and 850 second story part with a full basement with polished concrete. Hoping for arbor & large food pots to hide concrete foundation (no fancy veneers.. trying for a modern take). No major excavation expected at all.. and our site/house mimics the land well. We have a lived on lot with septic already done (new and planned for new build) and have electric running right over new home site to cottage.

We have lots of experience during a rebuild when we could afford no help and in that moment, we went for very nice windows and had no regrets! (Loewen.) We installed ourselves. (Not next time, had a one story) Now.. we are here in VA and I am about to go start asking.. the dig is..

I can totally change our design for nice windows! But our nice windows totally make this house shine.. or it's a dud. I tried last year with one supplier and it got so strange. I think they got mad. I asked the same basic question as above. They gave us Anderson after a long time and never got back to us on Marvin. We ended up rethinking a lot about our site and made a new better design with a much longer basement wall exposed to the view, and mainly, a separate well. New construction Yuks away from a lot of delicate land space and our orchard, bee meadow-- all expanding! So glad we moved house! Anyway.. I never learned anything about window prices per anyway. They kept asking for a schedule and then would hand a quote accordingly. I needed more info. Didn't work out. It was about $30k and *we CAN do that! But this is a new design! I am asking if anyone anywhere has ever received a window package quote window by window. I did with Loewen. It was exactly my same method. Sales rep understood and flat out had a meeting with me and rattled off numbers in a range we could help me plan. That is exactly how we got great windows and I came back with nice room design!

So I am here again and worried about the same round of questions I had.. I want to know frankly and simply. How much each window is going to roughly cost. Where is it headed to crazy and where does the window style more low priced. We are making so many honest choices about what we can afford and even more, relaxed for harmony with full time kids and pets. It is a traditional joist and beam strong stick build (no glued stuff) with no fancy expanses. Large shelf pantry vs fancy cabinets (Ikea) or expensive appliances (nice simple faucets) root cellar vs huge expensive fridge, wood stove vs fireplace, solar on the ground vs on the roof (and lots of it), no expansive decks but trying for a screen porch tucked in some exterior wall corners (might not make it but would be nice to! Lots of bugs), and no tile jobs. No fancy woods at all. But we don't want cheap cheap.. unless it comes to habitat buys as we buy new over time.. we have two kids and another one on the way and we need a house since our cottage is not made for babies.. super small.. whole long story. Think stone revolutionary style ;), hopefully we will fix up for some farm help!

But!!! we not going to go cheap on the windows or siding (James Hardie) (or house layout/warmth/cool) We are going to be clear about our finishes inside our home (more white) because whatever happens in the future, screen doors will be slammed, floors will be dented, fridge drawers will crack. We just will be mindful with the kids about the windows and the siding!!! Super hard to change and no reason they can't be aware of and throw the outdoor joys further down the hill. We just can't upgrade that. Once the choice is made for the shell of the home.. we can't remodel that.. too busy and too crazy! Just want to go on with holidays and happiness!
