I should ask this now! It seems cost effect to ask a factory window maker for casing, but maybe it is better quality for JH or real wood made on site? Or am I inviting more problems? The only thing In this house I am being strict and super amazingly annoying about is window and siding.. who installs them, what they are and how it is done.. everything else is a juggle of what it in stock.. I think window people and builders can understand why!

I am not a fan of the Hardie trim, but your siding installer will weigh in on what he likes to use here. As long as we are talking about the same "white", I would defer to the siding installer's recommendations.

The factory casings from Marvin and Andersen are nice stuff and doesn't get much better unless the profiles they have don't suit you.

We chose to do the factory casing with our Marvin windows. We chose the Potter trim as it most closely resembled the architects trim profile. The factory trim is even nicer than I had hoped. Higher initially of course but $$ saved in installation, future caulking, painting, etc. Such a nice, neat look.

The carpenters trimmed doors and and an overhead door opening that looks good with the Marvin trim. So, it can be done.

I was planning on Potter too! Thank you for sharing! Would you please also let me know what color choice you decided on for the window.. I hear that it looks great and would love to just imagine what color you are looking at too.

We used the Stone White. It's a lake house. The boat house already has the windows with the Marvin trim. The trim on the large opening and on the doors is the carpenters trim. They did a great job matching it. The round window has the Marvin trim. The house doesn't have windows yet.
