Hummm...if you go with a dark brown wont that just make it and the brick on the house stand out even more?

Don't they have fake brick look alike siding they can match up and make it not look like an addition?

Builders have sources for brick. They can find it or help you find it. You might focus on finding the same size brick and painting it all when you are finished.

Ramps don't add value to a house. All they say is "wheelchair in use," or "old people live here." The next owner will have it removed if possible. If you build a concrete ramp it might reduce the value. If you need a ramp, build one that can be easily removed before you need to sell.

My next question...if there's brick on my existing garage that we are going to tear down, do you know if they can salvage that? Then we could incorporate that and maybe it would blend better?

I think I'm over the ramp idea already...and your comments helped make that final decision! HAHA!

Haley from what I'm reading online it's very labor intensive and NOT cost effective even if you can find someone that will agree to do it.

Since you don't like the color of the brick you have I would just have the whole house painted. Makes it look like a whole new house after.

Since this space will include a laundry room have you thought out how you want the room to function? What type of machines, folding space drying space etc...?

So, you have brick that matches your house on your garage now? There could be a chance some of that is salvageable and could be incorporated into a partly new wood garage exterior to tie to the house....

How close to the house? Former neighbors added a mother in law suite over their detached down slope garage a few years ago and connected it to the house with a lovely enclosed breezeway. I wonder if there would be a way to design a slope, or easier or fewer steps through that kind of application (you'll be carrying laundry?)....but as above, hard to advise without a photo or your plan....

I don't really have plan! I am in the very beginning stages :) The thing that is holding me up from the entire project is the exterior of the home not matching. If I can't get the outside to look like I want it, then its not worth doing, yano what I mean?
