The two greens on either side and the little blue one are siblings? Wow - that is something, ConnieMay. The blue one looks just like a "mini-me" of Elvis.

I pulled up around a week ago my only seedlings so far - they are from Ginko Craig. I have them in water until I decide where they will grow. They would have been stepped on if I left them where they were growing. I'll take a photo to add here but they are the usual run of the mill green babies but cute nevertheless.

Here is one of the mamas - I will replant a couple of the bigger seedlings in front of their mama for comparison. Nice to keep family together.

The little pot is only around 4" in circumference and the first photo shows them jammed in there.

They are true to the parent only in shape, but each will be a pretty, small Hosta when it grows up! I hope some of the ruffled edge will develop as time goes on. I did not need to dig, I simply grasped the seedlings right at the base and gently but firmly pulled them out. Clay soil is well below the triple blend they grow in.

ConnieMae, the day I find a blue seedling in my garden is the day I will be dancing like a dervish! I have not been removing seedpods on certain hostas - hoping for more unusual seedlings. :-)

Could someone kindly post a photo of a newly emerging hosta seedling? I just know I pulled some while weeding.

This is the earliest I detected seedlings in 2015. They all come up with one leaf only, not two like in most perennials and the leaf is recognizably a tiny hosta. Hope this photo is ok...enlarge it if you can

That is a really good looking 'Elvis Lives'. The seedlings, especially the blue are fantastic. 'Summer Breeze' gave you a beauty.

It is fun and rewarding finding seedlings. Jo you are having a bumper crop!

'Invincible' gave me a seedling that is now on its 3rd year. Time to move it since it is being shaded out too much and we have had so much rain it is not as yellow as prior years.

This seedling also on its 3rd year and starting to crowd out Lakeside Down Sized is I believe a seedling of Mystic Star.

cearbhaill (zone 6b Eastern Kentucky) here are more examples of 1st year seedlings.

ConnieMay, I don't have a true Halcyon; rather a blue sport from June that I call Halcyon. It would be great to have baby blues!

I think having seedlings appear in our gardens adds another euphoric dimension to our craze! Except for my plain little goobers, the seedlings in this thread are very interesting.

I think ConnieMay may possibly have a bit of streaking going on there which is unheard of, isn't it? Streaked seedlings only come from streakers.?

Peren.all - nice chartreuse colour on the Invincible seedling. Great round leaves on the Mystic Star seedling.

Jo - I think it is uncommon to get anything but a solid from a non streaker but not impossible. Here is another one of the leaves. Is this streaking or simply variegation since it is a consistent pattern?

I don't really know which it is but it will tell us in time. It is defying the rule though....that seedlings from variegated hostas are usually green (or sometimes yellow). Please keep us updated on this one. :-)

A thought has occurred to me. My SB has always had narrower centres than most others...maybe this makes is closer to a streaker and increases the likelihood of getting a streaked seedling.

Just noticing how pretty the new growth on the blue Elvis Lives seedling looks so late in the season & thought I'd share. New growth starts out a chartreuse and slowly darkens to the blue. I hope it does this when mature as well.
