HI -- What you do has to look good from the main floor looking up to the second floor . You can either paint the walls or paint the doors . You could paint the walls in 12 inch horizontal stripes in two colors or one color done in shiny and matte . Or maybe a wall paper . Bold or tame pattern or texture . Or paint the doors a color . Black doors is every elegant and popular . Looking up , as in the last photo , the stair railing and spindles makes a cluttered look , so maybe you might need to paint that too. Or maybe replace some day with glass panels . Maybe the top railings would look better being solid instead so it is not so open looking up.

What style do you have in the rest of your house? Instead of a table, you could hang a fun wall hanging or something 3 dimensional on the walls.
