Peppers don't set fruit in hot weather. I don't know where in Indiana you are, but I would suppose that you've been having hot days. Don't give up on your plants. They will blossom and set fruit when cooler weather returns,

I always try to get my peppers in as early as I can so that the blossoms will set before the weather heats up. Once you can see the small fruit it doesn't seem like the hot weather will hinder the development.

The colored peppers are just ripe green ones. The green ones you have should turn colors and be unaffected by heat.

Thanks wolverine. It hasn't been very hot here.....but it does seem like everything in nature this year is lagging a bit.

That could be part of the problem. If the transplants were not in full growth when the first peppers set, that may have stunted their growth.

My peppers have been late getting into the ground the last 2 years due to wet weather, and some of them began blooming - and setting peppers - while still in the pots. I transplanted mine this year literally with thunder rolling in, and did not get a chance to pinch off those small peppers. Looking at them a few days ago, the plants with peppers are stunted, those without peppers have turned deep green & begun growing. I would recommend pinching off those first peppers, to increase the yield later in the season. The plants should resume blooming at that point. Still plenty of time for new peppers to ripen.
